Hi,

Ik spreek Afrikaans...so I will rather ask in English.

Where can I find records of the POWs on the VOC Ship "Held Woltemade", the skipper was repatriated in 1783 so were there other sailors on the ship? My ancestor Wilhelm Lamberts was a soldier on the ship.

Thanks

Hi Ivan,

if any PoW records remain, it would be in the British archives. I couldn't find anything relevant in the indexes at FindMyPast, but perhaps you could approach the maritime archive directly. Great piece on the Held Woltemade and the British capture can be found [

kind regards,

Can not really answer your original question, but you might find some more about Woltemade here;

Any translation roadblocks you can ask us about here.
